~~Most~~ Many lakes in the US are man made
Edit: Okay, I should clarify that a bit. The state where I’m from [there’s only **one** natural lake.](http://waterschool.brazos.org/post/man-made.aspx) There are plenty of man-made lakes (look up Possum Kingdom Lake, Buchanan Lake) which were built by intentionally flooding over towns in the basin.
I incorrectly assumed other states were similar, silly me. Please feed me downvotes.
Edit 2: [Wikipedia’s list of largest US lakes by area](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_largest_lakes_of_the_United_States_by_area) shows that 54 of the 97 lakes listed are man-made. While that’s by no means a total list, it is a significant sample and is MORE than the 43 natural listed lakes in the same list. So…^fuck^you^guys
