Slightly off-topic, but [Vinsetta Garage in Berkeley, Michigan](http://blog.preservationnation.org/2012/09/13/motor-city-masterpiece-detroits-iconic-auto-repair-shop-is-reborn-a-restaurant/) is an auto repair shop that was converted to a restaurant with a nice selection of beer and very tasty food. In the summer they open the garage doors for indoor/outdoor seating and it’s common to wait 2 hours for a table.
Easier said than done, but maybe you should look into it if it’s something you really want to do…
