Flooded Helensburgh Train Tunnel in Australia. Photo by Jay Daley

Someone asked for details and having grown up in Helensburgh, I lived about 300meters from the tunnel. It is an old train station that used to service the local coal mine, I believe it is around 2.5km long and has been sealed up at the mine end for years and used as a water storage reservoir. The roof is also covered with glow worms, and it doesn’t usually flood like this. Most times you can walk a fair way in before it’s flooded. I’ve known of people kayaking through it sometimes.
