I think that you are a logical person, and I think you have a good point here, but with any logical system, there are flaws in the one you have presented too. It’s what the outrage comes from IMHO.
There is a 3rd option here too. There is, a man posts an American flag, and people in a state of devastation find a newborn hope and compassion for each other because someone risks putting a flag on a relic of the past in the ocean that may be about to collapse.
The kicker is, he doesn’t require medical attention.
How much does the collective cost of those people that may find new hope and inspiration outweigh the actions of the police in this incident? How many 12 packs of bud light could be saved, DUIs, AA visits, therapist visits, calls out of work, because people found a way to identify with each other without facebook, reddit, instagram, twitter, or whatever.
I am not disagreeing with your logic, but I am just saying there are always factors, even in the context that I have presented, that could be overlooked, that could have real and seriously impacting consequences.
**That said, I admire the cut of your jib!**
