Those things on the floor are vertical turbine pumps. I work on those things. I can’t make out who made them, but they look like condensate pumps for the boiler. They could be service water pumps too. Watch out for the pits they go into because that whole rusted section sits under ground with only the discharge elbow visible from where you stand.
Now that I am on a computer, I have looked at the whole set. [This one here](http://i.imgur.com/QKatrd7.jpg) is a boiler feed pump. I believe its an Ingersoll Rand CHTA type. The long vertical turbines are Peerless pumps iirc.
