I’ve slept in it. (Frowned upon of course.) But me and a couple of mates talked about doing it when we were young saying how creepy it would be to camp there. So quite a few years later, we did. I also nearly had an asthma attack sprinting up the stairs that lead to it. There’s like 200 steps or something
Edit: I digressed and missed out a point I was going to make. I don’t know why it was left to ruin. Whitby’s foundations aren’t exactly great though. [Heavy rain once caused a cliff side to crumble and the graveyard that was on the high ground was left exposed and people were waking up with coffins in their back garden or something haha.](http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2013/01/09/article-2259560-0034B33300000258-818_634x399.jpg)
I’m sorta glad it’s how it is. The ruin really does have a nice character and it’s not going to survive forever since the cliffs are receding. If any of you visit, they do a cracking Fish and Chips in whitby.
